Huawei KFC Phone

It’s been 30 years since China’s first KFC outlet opened. To commemorate this landmark feat, the retail giant has decided to offer up a limited edition smartphone in partnership with Huawei. The phone is colored entirely in Red and comes with the iconic Colonel Sanders marking on the back panel.

There’s no word on where the phone will be sold, but it’s possible that KFC will sell this at its outlets or even through its official store on Alibaba’s TMall platform, although we’re still waiting for confirmation on that front.

As for the hardware of the smartphone, it comes with a 5-inch display, the quad-core Snapdragon 425 chipset, 32GB of expandable storage, 3GB of RAM, and a 3,020 mAh battery. The phone also comes with a fingerprint scanner on the back, much like any other mid-ranged smartphones available in the Chinese markets today. There’s no word on the kind of cameras that the phone is packing, however. The Android version also appears to be a bit of a mystery at this point.

In terms of the software, the phone will come with an exclusive KFC branded music application which will let you curate and share playlists at a KFC outlet. The company has been kind enough to offer an introduction video of this KFC branded phone.

Reports say that the phone will be priced at 1,099 CNY or $162 when it is sold in the region. Huawei and KFC will only produce 5,000 units of these limited edition phones, so you probably won’t have much of a chance to get it if you live outside China.
