ASUS just announced a peculiar product called the MemoPad FHD10. I say peculiar because the device doesn’t have a 10 inch panel, it’s a 10.1 inch panel, and said panel outputs 1920 x 1200 pixels, not 1920 x 1080p pixels, better known as FullHD. Naming aside, about the only thing that stands out about this thing is the processor: Intel’s Atom Z2560. According to AnandTech, that particular chip is a good bit faster than what Apple put inside the iPad 3, but it’s not as fast as what Apple has inside the iPad 4.

Why do I bother comparing this tablet to an iPad? Because it’s likely going to cost the same, and you know how I feel about Android tablets that cost the same as an iPad. They’re just not worth the money. Now granted, ASUS hasn’t announced any pricing information, so it could very well end up being less than $499, but I doubt it’ll be as cheap as the best 10 inch Android tablet currently on the market: the Nexus 10.

Depending on where you live, the Nexus 10 will cost you roughly $400. It has an insane resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels, and since it’s a Nexus you’re guaranteed to always have the latest version of Android. So please, tell me, why would anyone buy this thing?
