With Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google finally added native emoji support to Android. In a bid to customise their phones from one another though, Android OEMs change how the emojis look on their respective devices.
This actually creates confusion among users, and certain emojis, like those found on Samsung devices — including the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge — look hilariously bad.
Thankfully, it is pretty easy to restore the stock Android 5.0 Lollipop emojis on the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge or just about any other Android device provided you have root access on it. If you don’t have root access on your Galaxy S6 or S6 edge, use the app PingPongRoot to gain root access on it in just one-click without tripping KNOX.
Step 1: Head over to the Play Store and download Emoji Switcher.
Step 2: Open the app and proceed to grant it root access when prompted.
Step 3: Tap the ‘Set emojis to’ option and select your preferred emoji type from the list. Tap the ‘Set’ button after which the app will prompt you to restart your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge. Tap the ‘Reboot’ option from the pop-up to restart your device so that the changes can take effect.
If you are not fond of the Lollipop emojis, you can also use Emoji Switcher to change the emoji style to iOS or those from Android 4.4 KitKat.
