Even though the Nokia X is an Android device, it does not come with the whole suite of Google Apps pre-installed, which can be a bummer for me. Thankfully, if you have root access on the device, you can easily all the Google apps on the phone without much of a hassle.
Installing the Google Apps will convert your Nokia X into an Android device like any other and even provide you with access to some core Google apps like Maps and G+. Simply follow the guides below to find out how:
Step 1: Make sure that your Nokia X is already rooted. Then, proceed to install any file manager with root privileges like Root Explorer Or File Explorer, provided you already have the APK. If not, you can use the pre-installed Astro file manager as well.
Step 2: Download all the required Google APKs from here and here. Extract the contents of each of this ZIP file into separate folders and copy them over to your Nokia X.
Step 3: Using the file explorer you installed in Step 1, copy the contents of the first ZIP (containing GMSCore and other APKs) file folder to the /system/app partition.
Step 4: Now, manually install all the APKs from the second folder (containing Play Music, Ears and other APKs). This will install all the core Google apps on your Nokia X.
Step 5: Head over to Settings where you will now find the option to add a Google account under “Accounts”. Make sure to sign in with your Google ID so that you can use all the other Google based apps and services like Maps and Google+.
You can now also enjoy Google Now along with other popular Google services like Maps on your Nokia X without any issues.
