Android 5.0 Lollipop comes with a new Google Keyboard that includes a Material Light and Dark theme besides the old Holo theme. The APK of the keyboard was extracted from the updated Developer preview image of the Nexus 5 and was ported to other Android devices in pretty much no time. However, installing the keyboard required root access, which was a bummer for many.

Thankfully, XDA developer — Shaftamle — has managed to pack all the relevant files of the keyboard inside an APK that can be installed on any Android device without requiring root access.

While the keyboard is already reported to work on a wide variety of devices, it does crash under landscape mode in certain issues.

If intermittent crashes are not a deal breaker for you, head over to link below to grab the APK and install it on your Android device. Make sure to enable the keyboard from Settings -> Language & input after installing it.
