With the International Consumer Electronics Show taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, it’s a busy time for manufacturers announcing new things. And, as usual, Android plays a big part in that.
After confirming the Matte Gold Nexus 6P has gone on sale in the United States, Huawei also announced a brand new tablet and a new smartphone for the U.S. market as well. The tablet is the MediaPad M2 10.0, which features a 10-inch display with a resolution of 1920×1080. There’s a 13-megapixel camera on the back, and a 5MP front-facing camera on the other side. Under the hood, the MediaPad M2 10.0 boasts a octa-core Kirin 930 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 64GB variant — for the gold variant. The silver option, though, includes 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage.
There’s support for a microSD card, a battery measured in at 6660mAh, and a fingerprint sensor for good measure. Huawei plans on launching the tablet in the U.S. beginning sometime in the first quarter of 2016, and confirmed that pricing will be unveiled as the release date gets closer.
As for the smartphone, Huawei’s GX8, it boasts a 5.5-inch 1080p HD display, a 13MP camera on the back and a 5MP camera on the front, an all-metal body, an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, a battery measured in at 3000mAh, and 16GB of built-in storage with a microSD card slot. It’s running Android 5.1 out of the box.
The GX8 will finally see a release in the United States in the first quarter of this year, following its international rollout late in 2015. Pricing hasn’t been revealed just yet.
