Honor 5X

As it had teased earlier, Huawei today announced its first phone under its ‘Honor’ brand for the U.S. market: the Honor 5X. The handset’s design language is similar to the Honor 7 with some tweaks thrown in.

The “diamond-polished aluminium alloy casing” gives the Honor 5X a very premium look and feel, which is quickly becoming a commonplace in mid-range Android devices. The front of the handset is adored by a 5.5-inch Full HD display. Under the hood, the 5X is powered by a Snapdragon 615 processor and 2GB RAM. It also features 16GB storage space, a microSD card slot, a fingerprint scanner located at its rear and a 3,000mAh battery.

As for the cameras, the Honor 5X features a 13MP shooter and makes use of Huawei’s SmartImage 3.0 image processor, which helps in improving picture quality in low light. On the front, there is a 5MP shooter with an f/2.4 aperture and a 88-degree wide angle lens.

The Honor 5X will launch in the United States on January 31 for $199.99 unlocked. It will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Huawei’s Emotion UI 3.0 on top of it.
