Huawei has just announced a smartphone called the “Ascend Mate 2 4G”. Now normally I wouldn’t even cover Huawei because their devices tend not to sell outside of China, but this device in particular is coming to the United States, probably on AT&T. Unlike the Note 3, which has bleeding edge everything, the Mate 2 is just big. It has a 6.1 inch 720p screen that will immediately turn some of you off, but having lived with the 6.3 inch 720p Galaxy Mega for a month, I can tell you that 720p is fine at that resolution. What’s more interesting about the Mate 2, however, is the battery.

According to Engadet, this phone has a sealed battery, which I’d normally poo poo, but because it’s non-removable, Huawei has managed to stick in a 4,050 mAh cell. That’s absolutely incredible. Furthermore, the battery is so ridiculous big inside this phone that it can charge other phones. In fact, Huawei CEO Richard Yu even charged an iPhone on stage when announcing the Mate 2!

What about the rest of the specs? If you’re in China, then the Mate 2 will be powered by Huawei’s own quad-core HiSilicon processor. If you’re not, then you’ll get a Qualcomm MSM8928, which is supposed to be a quad-core Snapdragon 400. Both versions have 2 GB of RAM, 13 megapixel rear facing camera, 5 megapixel front facing camera, and there’s even a microSD card slot. And yes, there’s even 4G LTE radios inside too!

No word on pricing, sadly, but at least there’s a launch date: March.
