Honor 7 Marshmallow

Huawei today announced through its official page on Facebook in India that the Honor 7’s Marshmallow update is now rolling out in the country.

Huawei has been traditionally slow in updating its devices to the latest version of Android, so it is refreshing to see the company update one of its devices within a couple of months of the OS being released by Google.

However to get the OTA update, Honor 7 owners will have to register over at this link first by entering their IMEI number and existing software version. Then Huaweil will push the OTA update to their smartphone within the next 24-48 hours.

It is unclear why Huawei is rolling out the software update through a registration process. It is likely that the company plans on rolling out the update to selected Honor 7 owners first to make sure that there are no stability issues before doing a wider rollout.
