On November 3, Huawei is going to unveil the next flagship in its lineup, the Mate 9, and what appears to be the handset has leaked online in new images.
Thanks to a report from VentureBeat, the first images of the Mate 9 have appeared, showing off a standard, no curves design, and one model that does indeed boast a dual-edge design. The report indicates that the internal codenames for the device include Manhattan (pictured in the top row), and the Long Island (pictured in the bottom row), with the Long Island boasting the aforementioned dual-edge design.
The Long Island variant is the high-end premium version of both devices, which could feature a QHD display and other high-end specifications. Unfortunately those details aren’t known at this point. Interestingly enough, though, the report also states that the Long Island may be restricted to the Chinese market, while the Manhattan, while not outfitted with the high-end specs in comparison, will see a global release.
Here’s a closer look at the Manhattan:
There are rumors swirling around about the Mate 9, however, that include an eight-core HiSilicon Kirin 960 processor, a 5.9-inch display, and one model that could boast 6GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage. There is also said to be a Leica dual-sensor camera on the back.
What do you think? Maybe it looks too much like a Samsung phone?
