Huawei has just unveiled its latest flagship device in Berlin at IFA — the Ascend Mate 7.

The company’s latest phablet sports an impressive design and is completely made of “true metal” with a screen-to-body ratio of 83% — which is better than what even the Galaxy Note 4 offers.

The oversized phablet comes with a 6-inch 1080p display and Huawei’s own octa-core Krin CPU, which consists of four Cortex A15 cores and four low-power A7 cores. It also sports an impressively thin waistline of 7.9mm

Huawei has gone all out with the Ascend Mate 7 and even included a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device, which it states is even faster than Apple’s Touch ID. A nice touch of the fingerprint scanner is that it works even when the device is sleeping, unlike Apple’s Touch ID and the Galaxy S5’s fingerprint sensor. Huawei also states that the sensor works with wet and dry fingers and has 360-degree readability.

The full specs of the Ascend Mate 7 are as follows:

  • 6-inch 1080p LTPS display
  • Octa-core Krin CPU
  • 2/3GB RAM
  • 16/32GB internal storage
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • 13MP with F/2.0 aperture and 28mm wide-angle lens
  • 5MP front-facing camera with a 5P non-speherical lens
  • 4100mAh battery
  • Android 4.4 KitKat
  • Emotion UI 3.0

The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 will be available in more than 30 countries including China, Hong Kong, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain from the third quarter of 2014 and will be available in three colors — Obsidian black, Moonlight silver and Amber gold. The 2GB RAM/16GB ROM variant will set users back by 499 Euros, while the 3GB RAM/32GB ROM version will cost them 599 Euros.
