According to sources of Phandroid, HTC is working on its first Android Wear smartwatch codenamed halfbeak. The smartwatch will sport a circular display with a 360 x 360 resolution.

Other details of the smartwatch, however, remain unknown for now. It is also not clear whether HTC plans on unveiling the smartwatch at its rumored September 29th event or early next year with its new flagship handset.

HTC has always been known for their design, so it is likely that the company will differentiate its first Android Wear smartwatch on the design front. With the new Huawei Watch and 2nd gen. Moto 360 raising the bar in terms of design though, the company really must bring its best foot forward if it wants to capture the attention of consumers.

HTC has been facing some tough times lately, with its flagship and mid-range devices failing to capture the market. The company’s shares have dropped to an all-time low, its flagship handset for 2015 — the One M9 — is all but forgotten by everyone, and many key executives continue to leave the company as it struggles to stay afloat.
