HTC has started rolling out a major update for its current flagship, the HTC U11, that adds plenty of new features to the device. This includes support for Bluetooth 5.0 and the ability to record videos at 60fps in Full HD resolution.
While the HTC U11 can record slow-motion videos as well as 4K videos, it was only limited to recording Full HD videos at 30fps. The option to record videos in 1080p @ 60fps was strangely missing from the device. The higher frame rate comes in handy while recording a lot of motion as it tends to make things look smoother. With the new 1.26.709 system update, HTC is finally getting around to adding this feature to its 2017 flagship.
The update also enables Bluetooth 5.0 support on the device, though it’s unlikely to immediately benefit anyone. Once Android 8.0 is released for the U11 though, users will be able to stream high-quality music to their Bluetooth headphones.
Lastly, the update bumps the Android security patch level to July and brings in other “system enhancements.” For now, HTC is rolling out this 625MB software update to HTC U11 owners in Taiwan, with a wider rollout planned over the next couple of months. And if you own a carrier branded version of the device, expect to wait even longer.
