HTC U11

HTC’s recently launched flagship, the U11, might not have created as much hype as the Samsung Galaxy S8 or the LG G6 but there’s no denying the fact that it is still a fine handset by all means. Despite being a somewhat impressive phone, the U11 was largely written off by many at its launch.

Surprisingly though, a new report says that HTC’s U11 is selling better than the HTC 10 and One M9. The revelation was made by HTC’s President Chang Chia-lin during a shareholder meeting. Sales of the handsets have also exceeded the company’s expectations and it has also led to the handset being back ordered in many countries.

While the HTC One M9 was poorly received by the critics, the 10 was praised for its build quality and performance but still failed to set the sales chart on fire. Similarly, the U11 seems to have ticked a lot of boxes right but due to the lack of hype surrounding it, not many were optimistic about the handset doing well.

Despite the brisk sales of the U11, HTC sees VR as an “excellent opportunity” for growth and its survival. The company’s Vive headset is widely regarded as among the best VR headsets in the market and the company promises to remain at the top.

To further help improve profitability, HTC will be minimising its operating costs and reduce the number of smartphones it launches to three or four a year.
