The update plans for many companies regarding Android 5.0 Lollipop were lofty to say the least, but unfortunately things happen.
On November 14, HTC confirmed that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update would begin rolling out to Google Play edition devices “early next week,” which just so happens to be right around now. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. As confirmed by Mo Versi, HTC’s VP of Product Management, via Twitter, the update will now begin on Friday, November 21. Versi said that the update “got delayed,” but nothing else was added to that cryptic note.
It should also be noted that while Versi did point to Friday as the expected rollout date, he added that HTC is “working aggressively to get it out as quickly as possible.” So while it might be a good idea to circle Friday on the calendar, it might be best to do it with a pencil.
With the update set to rollout this Friday, that means owners of the One (M7) GPe and One (M8) GPe have something to look forward to this weekend. As long as it lands this time around.
