HTC today posted its third quarter “business review” report where it managed to post a slim profit of $19 million with a revenue of roughly $1.4 billion.
While this is lower than HTC’s Q2 results of $754 million in profit and a revenue of $2.13 billion, this was the second consecutive quarter where it managed to earn a profit. This is especially remarkable as the company did not have any major device launches in the previous quarter except for some localised high-end handsets like the Butterfly 2 and the One M8 running Windows Phone.
The report notes that the demand for the One M8 continued even though there was stiff competition, while the Desire 816 maintained its “solid sales” throughout China, India, Taiwan and the Middle East. The Desire 510 and 610 also received good response in the United States and Europe. (tntechoracle)
Even though competition is expected to increase in the last quarter of 2014, HTC recently launched the Google Nexus 9, which along with its new mid-range Desire offerings should help maintain profitability.
