For the first time in three years, HTC has managed to post a revenue growth on a YoY basis. In the last quarter of 2014, the Taiwanese OEM revenues increased to NT$47.9 billion ($1.5 billion) compared to NT$ 42.9 billion a year ago.
Over the last three years, sales of HTC devices have slowed down greatly with its market share reducing dramatically. Even though the company launched some remarkable handsets in the last two years, including the HTC One M7 and M8, it has failed to give Samsung or Apple a stiff competition.
However, things seem to be changing for the good for the company if the last quarter of 2014 was anything to go by. The new mid range Desire branded devices have managed to offset the attack of the latest generation iPhones from Apple in the high-end and from Chinese OEMs like Xiaomi in the low-end.
On a toral revenue of $NT47.9 billion, the Taiwanese OEM managed to eek out a profit of $130 million — significantly beating analysts expectations of a $NT30 million loss. The company also posted a net income of NT$470 million, which is again higher than the $NT212 million expected by most analysts.
