Remember last year, when HTC announced the One X, their ultimate balls to the wall flagship handset, and then just a handful of months later they brought the One X Plus and Butterfly (Droid DNA) to market? The lesson there was that an HTC flagship never really stays a flagship for more than half a year.
According to Pocket-lint, the same thing is going to happen this year. The report is incredibly light on details, all it says is that an “updated” One will eventually come. The site speculates that means replacing the Snapdragon 600 with a Snapdragon 800, which makes a lot of sense actually.
The site also says that HTC is already hard at work on a flagship phone for 2014 and that internally it’s being called the M8. The current HTC One, for those who don’t know, was called M7 internally. What does Lint know about the M8? Nothing. And you shouldn’t be surprised that companies, in July 2013, are working on phones due to launch in spring 2014. That’s just … obvious.
