HTC One M8

If you have an HTC One M8 and you live in Europe, you’re in for a good day. The latest Android 5.0 software is now making its way to your smartphone over-the-air, weighing in at 780MB and packing everything you would expect from a Lollipop update.

Both the developer and unlocked editions of the One M8 began receiving Lollipop in the U.S. several weeks ago, but fortunately for those in Europe, their handsets are next on the list, according to a tweet posted by Jeff Gordon, HTC’s Senior Global Online Communications Manager.

Gordon didn’t specify which European markets the update would be available in first, but presumably, it will roll out in phases — as is often the case for major upgrades like this one. Users on Twitter are reporting the update in Germany and France, while the U.K. is still waiting.

Of course, if your One M8 is carrier-branded, you’ll have to wait a little longer for carrier approval. But it will be worth it; like all Lollipop updates, this one brings features like Smart Lock, improved multitasking, and lock screen notifications — plus significant performance and battery life improvements.

Have you received the Lollipop update on your European One M8 yet?
