HTC had planned on pushing out Android 5.0 Lollipop updates to its One (M7) and One (M8) models within 90 days of Google releasing its latest version of Android. Turns out, HTC was able to keep that plan in tact.

According to a tweet from HTC’s Mo Versi, the Android 5.0 update for the developer edition and unlocked variant of the One (M8) have been approved by Google. As a result, that means that the update itself should begin rolling out as an over the air (OTA) update as soon as this evening. While the official rollout is planned for later today, it would appear that many owners of the devices are reporting that they’ve already received the update on their handset, bringing the newest version of Android along with the most update version of HTC’s Sense UI along with it.

The new update brings heads-up notifications, a new lock screen for the One (M8), searching within the Settings app, an update to the Recent Apps aesthetic and more. The update itself weighs in at 584.83MB, and brings the software version number up to 4.16.1540.8. Officially, it’s Android 5.0.1 that’s being sent out to the handsets.
