At the end of June, HTC’s alleged update roadmap found its way online, which outlined when the company would reportedly be planning on releasing the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update to devices like the One (M7) and One (M8). That roadmap may prove accurate, as HTC is indeed starting to roll out that particular software version to its devices.
Of course, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that HTC is starting with a device that’s running stock Android right out of the box. According to owners of the One (M8) Google Play edition, the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update has indeed begun to roll out, as more and more owners are raising their hand to a recently updated handset.
The update itself is pretty small, considering its meant mainly as a behind-the-scenes update, and not necessarily for the end user in any front-facing capacity. We’ll see some performance tweaks and some bug squashing. The over the air update is rolling out now, so keep an eye on your device.
