HTC One Durability

We’ve seen several hands on videos of the new HTC One surfacing after its official announcement yesterday. However, we’re yet to come across something as cringe worthy as this new video which tests the durability of the new HTC flagship.

In this video, the demonstrator uses three tools that you may or may not encounter in your daily routine – a key, a knife and a hammer. Now the purpose of this video is to solely educate potential buyers of its durability, but you might want to take notice if you work closely with a knife or a hammer as well.

We won’t ruin the surprise for you, but for the most part, the smartphone actually holds up pretty well. So durability wise, there’s nothing to worry about. However, since the One is made of aluminum, it’s more prone to scratches and dents compared to something like a Samsung Galaxy S4 or an LG G2. But considering that most users will be using a case to protect their expensive new HTC One, this shouldn’t be a major concern.

The Dot-View case in particular looks quite retro and comes with back protection as well. For $50, it’s certainly not cheap, but a premium device like this warrants premium protection, right?
