HTC had already confirmed that its latest flagship handset — the One M9 and One M9+ — will be receiving the update to Android M.
Now, the company’s VP of Product Management, Mo Versi, has confirmed on Twitter that the One M8 — the company’s 2014 flagship handset — will also be receiving the update to Android M later this year.
@sonsonnetwork @HTCUSA Thanks Pierrette! Appreciate your support. Yes, the M8 will receive the M OS update.

Mo Versi had actually confirmed that the One M8 will receive the Android M update at the beginning of July itself, though since it was a reply to another user on Twitter, the news was missed by everyone.
The One M8 comes under HTC’s Advantage program, which makes it eligible for receiving software updates from the company for 2 years since its launch. HTC had launched the One M8 in April 2014 and by the time Google releases Android M later this year, the handset will be nearly 20 months old. Most OEMs usually stop updating their device a year after its release, so it is commendable to see HTC promising to update the One M8 to Android M whenever it is released by Google later this year.
In the last year or two, HTC has greatly stepped up its software game and has been quick in updating its devices to the latest version of Android. Last year, the Taiwanese OEM managed to update the One M8 and One M7 to Lollipop within 90 days of the OS code being released by Google.
