HTC One A9s

HTC today unveiled the successor to the One A9 at IFA in Berlin, the One A9s. The successor retains the same design as its predecessor, with only some minor changes thrown in.

This includes the omission of an HTC logo at the front of the device. Otherwise, the basic design remains the same: you are looking at a brushed aluminium design with a home button in the front.

Unlike the One A9, the A9s sports a 5-inch Full HD Super LCD display with a 720p resolution. Interestingly, inside the One A9s is MediaTek’s Helio P10 chipset that comprises of four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2GHz that is paired with a Mali-T860 MP2 GPU. The handset also comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot. HTC will also be offering a 3GB RAM/32GB variant of the One A9s in some markets of the world. The Snapdragon 617 chipset used inside the One A9 is actually more powerful than the Helio P10 chipset powering the One A9s, so it will be interesting to see how HC has optimised its software to eek out the best performance from it.

Other specs of the handset include a 13MP f/2.2 shooter with Full HD video recording, 5MP selfie shooter, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, LTE, and a paltry 2300mAh battery.

HTC will be launching the One A9s globally, though it did not provide any details about its availability or pricing. HTC has an event scheduled for 20th September, so maybe we will hear more from the company about the One A9s then.
