HTC’s quest for a smartwatch hasn’t been a well-kept secret up to this point, but it looks like it was all for naught.

Android Police reports that HTC has decided to scrap that oft-rumored, sometimes leaked smartwatch. The report first cropped up on the site Tbreak, where HTC executive Chialin Chang was quoted as saying the company was “not going to have an Android watch.” HTC later confirmed the quote to Android Police.

As far as recent images of the “Halfbeak,” that HTC and Under Armour smartwatch running Android Wear, a source speaking to AP says it’s an old prototype, and doesn’t reflect any new device heading to market.

It’s a sad result, especially considering HTC was named as an initial partner of Android Wear way back in 2014.
