HTC has just sent out invitations for the launch of its 2015 flagship and the successor to the HTC One M8 on March 1st at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Mobile World Congress is still a month and half away so it is quite strange for the company to send out press invites this early. Most OEMs generally send out invites 2-3 weeks before the launch event is scheduled to take place.

The press invite from the company does not reveal much and comes with the tagline “utopia in progress” followed by a “Join us to see what’s next.”

Leaks have indicated that the next-generation One, which is internally known as Hima, will feature a 5-inch screen with reduced bezel space surrounding it. Under the hood, the handset will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor, an Adreno 430 GPU and 3GB RAM. HTC is also reported to finally ditch its 4MP ‘UltraPixel’ camera for a 20MP sensor from Sony, though there have been no leaks confirming this piece of news.

Personally, I am excited about the next-generation One because of the possibility that it might ship with a 5-inch display and will still be shorter in size than the M8. I am not a fan of the ever increasing screen sizes of Android phones and have found devices with greater than 5″ screen very troublesome to use with one hand. It will also be interesting to see which camera module HTC uses in the Hima especially after it has promoted its UltraPixel camera sensor so much over the last couple of years.

What are your expectations from the next-generation HTC One? Will you be buying it? Drop in a comment and let us know.
