With all the major devices for 2013 already announced, OEMs have started working on their flagship handsets for the first half of 2014. HTC is also busy working on the successor of the One (M7), codenamed M8.
Leaked image of the shell of the handset suggest that the M8 will have the same design philosophy as the One with an aluminium body, and a fingerprint sensor on the back as seen on the One Max.
Sounds like the HTC M8 is — and you could probably predict — a 5-inch, 1080p handset powered by KitKat and a Snapdragon 800.

Now, @evleaks has shed some more information about the specs of the M8. The device will feature a 5-inch 1080p display and will be powered by a Snapdragon S800 processor. None of this exactly screams next-generation but I am pretty sure HTC will have a few surprises up their sleeves.
The M8 will also be running on Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6.0, and is expected to be released early next year. Keep in mind that the M8 is still under early stages of development and it is very much possible that the specs of the device can change before it is official unveiled.
