Rumors about HTC working on a plastic and cheaper version of the One M8 have been floating around the Internet for the last month or so. However, nothing substantial about the handset had leaked confirming its existence. Now, some press photos of the Ace have leaked, showing it off in its full glory, confirming its presence and its impending launch.
The One M8 Ace will be a cheaper version of HTC’s 2014 flagship — the One M8 — and will be entirely made of polycarbonate to keep its manufacturing costs down. HTC will also be replacing the Duo Camera on the back with a single 13MP shooter. The display size was also rumored to be reduced to 4.7-inches but the press renders suggest that the Ace will have the same screen size as the One M8 at 5-inches.
Other confirmed specs of the phone include a front-facing wide-angle 5MP camera, double tap to wake feature, front-facing BoomSound stereo speakers and a Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz.
Apparently, the phone will be priced below $500 and will be available in four colors — Red, Blue, White and Black — when it is officially unveiled next month.
