Several months ago, there were rumors floating around the internets that said HTC was working on two Android devices, the M4 and the M7. The M7 obviously became the One, so whatever happened to the M4? According to @LlabTooFeR, a well respected HTC ROM developer, the HTC M4 is essentially going to be the Facebook Phone, but without Facebook Home installed by default.
Just to recap, what exactly are the specs of the Facebook Phone? It has a 4.3 inch 720p screen, dual core 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1 GB of RAM, and a rear facing 5 megapixel camera that has an f2.0 aperture. It’s pretty much the perfect mid-range device.
Think about it. Samsung’s 4.3 inch Galaxy S II Plus has a WVGA (800 x 480) panel, as does the 4 inch Galaxy S3 Mini. The rumored Galaxy S4 Mini allegedly has a 4.3 inch qHD (960 x 540 panel), so even that’s not 720p.
Now we just have to wait to see if HTC actually announces this thing or if they’re going to tighten their belts and focus all their energy on making the One a hit.
