HTC seems to be making final preparations for the official launch of the 2014 HTC One, and has released three five new HTC Sense apps onto Google Play – HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Service Pack, HTC Guide, HTC Gallery and HTC SenseTV. The launch of these proprietary apps suggest HTC is taking inspiration from Google and Motorola and will be providing standalone updates to stock apps instead of depending on firmware updates to do the needful.

The apps are currently unsupported on the original HTC One, so it’s likely these apps will be compatible only with the new One till the time existing devices get updated to Sense 6. BlinkFeed doesn’t really need an introduction – it’s HTC’s take on a Foursquare-like app that integrates into the home screen launcher, and the Play Store listing suggests the latest version has an Offline Reading feature that saves feeds over Wi-Fi for later viewing.

SenseTV seems to have received a major boost, in both features and looks. It will let you control your TV and set top box, and, according to the app’s description, it now supports showing secondary on-screen content “about the shows you watch, including synopsis, cast & crew, and social feeds about the show from Facebook and Twitter.” An add-on for sporting events is included as well, which will include scores, stats and all the buzz a game might be creating on social networks.

As for HTC Service Pack, it’s a “support service update that combines previously released updates and helps make your HTC experience more reliable,” though that doesn’t exactly tell us what it actually does.
