Every time Google releases a new version of Android, OEMs provide an estimated timeframe within which they expect to update their flagship devices to the latest version of Android.

When Google released Android 4.4 KitKat on October 31st, HTC was quick to announce that it would be rolling out the KitKat update for the GPe edition One within 15 days, with the developer unlocked units getting the KitKat with Sense update within 60 days.

Today, the company took to Twitter to announce that it has delivered the KitKat code for the GPe edition of One to Google. Now, after Google is done with its quality checks, it will be up to the company to allow HTC to start pushing the update to One GPe owners.

It is really refreshing to see an OEM be so transparent about its software update roll-out process. Samsung on the other hand, has been  mum about the KitKat update for the GPe S4 and other Galaxy devices.
