When HTC unveiled the HTC 10 earlier this week, it surprised everyone by including AirPlay support on the handset out of the box. There are quite a few apps in the Google Play Store that can add AirPlay support to your Android device, but nothing beats the convenience of having the feature built-in natively to your device.
The HTC 10 is actually the very first Android device to support AirPlay natively, which is commendable. Not to be content with that, HTC today has rolled out an update for HTC Connect that brings AirPlay support to its older flagships handsets: the One M9, One M8 and One M7.
Once you update HTC Connect through the Google Play Store, you will be able to stream audio and video from your flagship HTC handset to Apple TV, iMac or any other device that supports the protocol. And the process is extremely easy as well: all you need to do is swipe up using three fingers to bring up HTC Connect in any app and then select the AirPlay-enabled device around you.
HTC might have failed to release impressive handsets over the last year or so, but the company is definitely setting a benchmark in the software department for other Android OEMs to follow.
