In June of 2014, following the announcement of Android 5.0 Lollipop from Google, HTC came forward and announced that it planned on updating all of its One (M7) and One (M8) to the newest version of the software within 90 days of Google releasing it.
While the claim was bold, and certainly gave plenty owners of those handsets something to look forward to, updating devices is never an easy task, and usually takes quite a bit of time. While 90 days may seem like enough to most, obviously some hang-ups happen. Unfortunately, it looks like some carrier variants of the One (M7) and One (M8) are going to miss that 90-day update window.
According to a public letter posted by Mo Versi on the HTC USA website, the company has made great progress on the update as a whole, and that some devices are indeed lined up to get the update within the window. Versi states that Google has had to take care of issues within Android 5.0, which indicates that’s why some devices will miss their upgrade plans because HTC has to incorporate these changes into their own software.
Versi adds that the updates for devices are still being carried out with carriers, and that he hopes to have good news to share soon.
Are you bummed by this update?
