The HTC First, better known as the Facebook Phone, is a fantastic mid-range device. It has a 4.3 inch 720p screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, and 1 GB of RAM. It’s easy enough to uninstall Facebook Home too, which leaves you with a stock Android phone, but what if you want to buy the First and you don’t live in a country where it’s being sold?
According to GSM Insider, what you’re looking at above is the HTC 606w. It’s the Facebook Phone, with a bit of extra design flair, and more importantly the barely tolerable 5 megapixel camera sensor has been swapped out for an “UltraPixel” sensor. Whether or not that means the 606w has the same sensor as the HTC One remains to be seen.
Should you be excited about this device? Yes and no. The 606w, or M4, whatever you want to call it, will probably not hit the market until late summer. By then you might as well wait for Motorola to release their new “just right sized” stock Android phones.
I’m not saying HTC Sense is bad, I’m just saying I don’t like it that much.
Update: According to Engadget, the phone above actually has a 4.5 inch 960 x 540 pixel screen.
