Facebook App - Android

If you think the insane amount of baby pictures posted is the only annoying part of Facebook you may be mistaken. Facebook’s mobile app is littered with annoying in-app sounds, auto-playing videos, and system notifications that can make a regular Facebook session unbearable on your Android phone or tablet. Thankfully you can disable these sounds in the system preferences.

How to turn off in-app sounds in Facebook on your Android phone or tablet

On an Android tablet or phone, tap on the menu icon (three horizontal lines) near the top of the screen. In the menu section scroll down and tap on App Settings under Help & Settings. Next, find Sounds under General Settings and uncheck the item to disable sounds.

If you want a completely silent Facebook experience on your Android device, you can disable some of your Notifications. Simply uncheck the items you would rather not receive an alert for. You can also disable all you Notifications. If you do this, you will need to manually check you account for updates and posts.
