Xiaomi has started rolling out the Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 10 update for the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India. The update is currently being rolled out in stages which means it is not going to show up immediately on your device. But you can manually install MIUI 10 Stable on your Redmi Note 5 Pro right away.

If you are not willing to wait for a few weeks for the MIUI 10 update to show up on your Redmi Note 5 Pro, you can always take matters into your own hand and install the update manually. The steps are relatively simple and do not require your Redmi Note 5 Pro to be rooted or its bootloader unlocked.

Redmi Note 5 Pro: Install MIUI 10 Manually

Following the steps below will not wipe the data on your Redmi Note 5 Pro but it is strongly recommended that you still create a backup of all your data before proceeding with the steps below.

Step 1: Download the MIUI 10 Global ROM file for Redmi Note 5 Pro from here. You can download this file directly on your Redmi Note 5 Pro or download it on your PC and then transfer it to the phone. The file is over 1.5GB in size so make sure you have access to a high-speed internet connection before starting the download.

Step 2: On your Redmi Note 5 Pro, head over to Settings -> About Phone -> System Update. On the top-right corner, you will see a 3-dot overflow button. Tap on it and then select the Choose update package option.

Step 3: From the file manager window that opens up, select the MIUI 10 Global ROM file you transferred or downloaded on the device in the first step. Once the file is selected, it will be decrypted which can take a few minutes. Once done, you will get a pop-up where you will need to select the ‘Reboot and Install’ option.

Step 4: Your Redmi Note 5 Pro will now reboot and proceed to install the MIUI 10 update. This process can take its own sweet time and its pretty intensive as well so if your phone is low on battery, make sure to put it on charge. Once the update is installed, your Redmi Note 5 Pro will automatically reboot into MIUI 10.
