Hot on the heels of the Honor 9N launch, Honor has now launched another smartphone in India: the Honor Play. The handset sits a notch above the Honor 9N and will take on the upcoming Mi A2 from Xiaomi.
The Honor Play was first launched in June in China. The handset features a notched 6.3-inch FHD+ 19.5:9 aspect ratio display at the front. While the display is an IPS LCD panel, Honor is known for using decent quality LCD panels on its devices.
Unlike other Honor handsets launched in the recent past, the Honor Play features a metallic body instead of a glass design at the back. It also houses a fingerprint scanner at the rear.
Internally, the Honor Play features a Kirin 970 chipset along with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. Other specs of the device include a microSD card slot, dual-SIM connectivity, Wi-Fi ac, USB-C port, headphone jack, face unlock, and a 3750mAh battery with fast charging support. Honor will also be selling a 6GB RAM variant of the device, though with the same 64GB of storage space.
The 176gms heavy handset features a dual-camera setup at the rear which comprises of a 16MP f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP depth camera. At the front, there’s a 16MP selfie shooter with a f/2.0 aperture lens.
Honor is advertising the Honor Play as a gaming smartphone. It also features the company’s GPU Turbo technology for improved gaming performance. On the software front, the Honor Play runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Emotion UI 8.2 on top of it.
The Honor Play is priced at Rs 19,999 in India for the base 4GB RAM variant with 64GB of storage. The 6GB variant is priced at Rs 23,999. You can buy the Honor Play from here if you live in India.
