Smartphone manufacturers fell in love with the notch pretty quickly, but some companies are trying to avoid the design decision altogether by going a different way.
The Huawei sub-brand, Honor, is one such company trying out the latter. The company is planning on announcing its newest smartphone, the Magic 2, on Wednesday, October 31, but until that day arrives the company is more than happy to start showing off the upcoming handset anyway. The company has published a new teaser video for the device, and as noted today by The Verge, also showing off pictures of the handset as well.
The teaser video is below and it’s short, measuring in at just 15 seconds, but it gets the point across. We can see how colorful the Magic 2 is going to be, and how the back of the phone looks a lot like the Huawei P20 Pro with that triple camera setup in the vertical layout.
Meanwhile, the photos show off in clear detail that slider mechanism that the Magic 2 will boast, what we’ve seen from Oppo and Vivo in the past. So instead of having a notch of any kind, the Magic 2 will have the front-facing camera hidden away in that sliding mechanism, popping out when needed. As far as the other specs are concerned, the rumor mill has suggested the upcoming device will feature a 6.39-inch 1080p HD OLED display, Huawei’s Kirin 980 processor, and an in-display fingerprint reader.

So what we have here is another smartphone with a slide-out camera, which are definitely starting to pick up steam for some manufacturers. Are you a fan of the design? Or do you prefer the notch?
