Honor, the Huawei sub-brand, was teasing the Magic 2 earlier this month, and now the device is officially official.

Just as it was expected, the new Honor Magic 2 shares some sensibilities from Huawei-branded smartphones, but also does a few things differently. The new smartphone features a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340×1080, and, as you can see, there is no notch at the top of the phone. There is a Kirin 980 processor under the hood, and a variety of different variants with choices of RAM between 6GB and 8GB. Built-in storage options range from 128GB and 512GB.

there are six cameras in the Magic 2. Three on the back (16MP main camera, 24-megapixel monochromatic camera, and a 16MP super wide-angle camera). Meanwhile, when the slider mechanism is activated and the display slides down, it reveals three additional shooters: A 16MP primary camera, which is flanked by a pair of 2MP cameras which handle lighting and bokeh effects.

There is also a “3D Light” edition of the Magic 2, which replaces the aforementioned pair of 2MP front-facing cameras with infrared sensors, which is coupled with a dot projector as well. All of this to say that the 3D Light variant of the Magic 2 boasts a face unlocking feature. But you’ll be paying quite a bit more for it.

Meanwhile, the Magic 2 also boasts NFC support, a 3500mAh battery, a USB-C port, and it’s running Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack, though. There are three color gradients to choose from: Red/Pink/Purple, Blue/Dark Blue, and Silver/Black. There is an in-display fingerprint reader as well.

The Honor Magic 2 is only available in China to start. The base model offers 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage and costs 3,799 yuan (about $545). You can jump up to the 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage option and pay 4,799 yuan (about $690). Or you can opt for the 3D Light option, which keeps the 8GB of RAM, adds the fake unlock feature, and jacks up the storage up to 512GB. That will set you back 5,799 yuan (about $830) and launches in December.
