Huawei’s sub-brand Honor today announced the Honor 6X in China. The budget oriented handset is the successor to the Honor 5X and packs a metal body. What sets it apart from other budget smartphones is the dual 12MP shooters at its rear, which is a rarity among smartphones in the sub-$150 price range.
Inside the Honor 6X is Huawei’s own Kirin 655 chipset, 3/4GB RAM, and 32/64GB of internal storage. The phone shares a design language similar to that of its predecessor, though Huawei has made some improvements to make it feel and look more premium. Other specs of this 8.2mm thick handset include a 3340mAh battery, a hybrid SIM card slot (microSD or dual-SIM connectivity), LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and a fingerprint scanner that is located at its rear.
The Honor 6X packs a dual camera setup at its rear. The primary shooter as a 12MP resolution, with the secondary sensor featuring a 2MP resolution. The rear camera setup features 1.25um large pixels, PDAF, and a single LED flash. The front of the phone houses an 8MP selfie shooter.
Huawei will be offering the Honor 6X in Gold, Silver, Gray, Blue, and Rose Gold colors. Prices for the handset start from 999 Yuan ($148) for the 3GB/32GB storage variant, with the 4GB/32GB variant being priced at 1299 Yuan ($195). There is also a 4GB/64GB variant that is priced at 1599 Yuan. The handset will go on sale in China from October 25th. While Huawei did not provide any information about the internal availability of the device, it is likely that we will see the company announce the Honor 6X make its international debut at CES next year.
