Huawei’s online-only brand Honor today launched their latest handset in India today: the Honor 5c. The handset sits right below the Honor 5x in the company’s lineup, and its the first budget handset from the company to use its own Kirin 650 chipset that is based on the 16nm fabrication process.
The octa-core chip features 4x high-power Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2GHz and 4x low-power Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7GHz. Since the chipset is based on the 16nm fabrication process, it will be more power efficient than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 and other budget chipsets from MediaTek.
The handset has only been available in China so far and made its European debut earlier this week. Made of unibody aluminium, the Honor 5c features a 5.2-inch 1080p display at the front. While the European version of the Honor 5C does not come with a fingerprint scanner, the Indian version does feature a fingerprint scanner at its rear.
The full specs of the Honor 5c are as follows:
- 156g, 147.1 x 73.76 x 8.3mm
- 5.2-inch Full HD display
- Kirin 650 octa-core chipset
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB internal storage, microSD card slot

- 8MP front shooter
- Fingerprint 2.0 scanner
- 3000mAh battery
- Wi-Fi b/g/n Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, microUSB port, 3.5mm audio jack
On the software front, the Honor 5c runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Emotion UI 4.1 on top of it. Unlike the previous versions of the skin, Honor/Huawei have worked on optimising the performance of the software even for low-end devices.
The Honor 5c will be available in Silver, Gold, and Grey colors for Rs. 10,999. It will be sold exclusively through Flipkart from June 30th, with registrations for the first sale starting from today at 2PM.
