Honor today launched its latest flagship smartphone, the Honor 10. The handset is a cheaper version of the Huawei P20 Pro and offers almost all of its best features with some compromises made here and there to keep its price down.

The phone features a 2.5D curved glass at the back and front. The rear glass has a blue-purple color finish depending on how light strikes on it. It might not be as unique as the P20 Pro’s Twilight finish but it surely is a stunner. At the front, there’s a 19:9 aspect ratio 5.84-inch FHD+ display with a notch. That does make the Honor 10 significantly smaller than many other smartphones in the market, with the notch being used to house the proximity and ambient light sensor along with the f/2.0 24MP selfie snapper. It is still an LCD display so you won’t get the OLED vibrancy here, though its still a pretty good LCD display.

There’s also a bottom bezel here but unlike the P20 Pro there’s no fingerprint scanner there. Instead, the Honor 10 features an in-display fingerprint scanner making it among the very few smartphones in the market with this tech.

Other specs of the Honor 10 include Kirin 970 chipset, 4GB RAM, 6GB RAM, and 64/128GB of storage. There’s also a 3,400mAh battery along with Huawei’s Super Charge technology. Other notable specs include USB-C connectivity, Wi-Fi ac, IR blaster, Bluetooth, LTE, and dual-SIM connectivity. Oh, and yes there’s a 3.5mm jack on the handset as well.

At the rear, the Honor 10 features a dual camera setup. The primary sensor is a 16MP f/1.8 lens, with the 24MP monochrome sensor being used to capture more details and offer hybrid zoom. The camera offers Portrait mode, 3D Portrait Lighting, and AI capabilities that allow it to automatically detect the scene and switch to an appropriate mode. The 24MP front camera is also used to offer face unlock.

When it comes to software, the Honor 10 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, though it is overshadowed by Huawei’s Emotion UI 8.1. While you will find plenty of customization options in Emotion UI, it might not be everyone’s cup of tea as well.

The Honor 10 goes on sale across Europe from today itself, with prices starting from €399 and going to €449 for the 6GB RAM/128GB variant. In India, the handset is only being launched in 128GB variant for Rs 32,999 exclusively through Flipkart.
