Thanks to a licensing agreement with Samsung, Nokia’s HERE maps will soon be available exclusively on Samsung’s Tizen based devices, the recently unveiled Gear S and even the company’s Android running Galaxy branded devices.

HERE for Android will be classed as a beta product initially, and just like its Windows Phone counterpart it will work even without an active data connection. The app will allow users to download the map data of entire countries for offline use and even search through them.

With an active data connection, users will also be able to enjoy live traffic updates and real-time transit schedule. Other features of HERE Maps are similar to Google Maps including the ability to directly search for any place or location or use the search category, which automatically lists all the places near a user’s location.

The HERE team will also be adding new features to the app down the line including Glympse integration for easy sharing of your location with your friends.

HERE contains map data for more than 200 countries with turn-by-turn walk and drive guidance available in more than 100 of them.

Gear S owners will also be able to sync their location, route data and more easily with their Galaxy branded phone. The app will also offer integration with Samsung’s Car Mode app.

HERE Maps will be available for Samsung devices once the recently announced Gear S goes up for sale.
