Yesterday, the visual refresh for Hangouts for Android leaked out, showcasing a visual overhaul for the popular messaging app.
Now, just one day later, a look at the refresh for the Android Wear-based variant of the app has leaked out as well. This is version 4, just like the main platform’s version, but it doesn’t appear to be as quite an overhaul for the smaller display. There is plenty of green, though, with a new green section at the top of the display that when tapped, will let users switch accounts quickly.
Jumping into a conversation will give the wearer the ability to scroll through the whole conversation, all the way back to the beginning of it, but there is one stipulation. Images will not appear in the Android Wear app, but instead will show “sent a photo” in its place. Replying to a message means either sending a voice memo, opting for an emoji of the user’s choice, or choosing one of the quick reply options.
One interesting aspect is the potential for being able to tell Google to send a Hangout message to someone. According to Android Police they tried this, but the app actually crashed before it could complete the task. Whether or not this will be in the final version of v4.0 is unknown at this point.
Do you use Hangouts?
