As per @evleaks, Google will be unveiling its second generation Pixel handsets powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 chipsets on October 5th.

Interestingly, it is possible that the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 will be the first Android devices to launch in the second half of this year that’d make use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 chip. The chip’s performance should be similar to the Snapdragon 835 found in plenty of other Android devices, though it will likely be a bit more power efficient.

So far, we have seen the Pixel and Pixel XL 2 leak in some 3D CAD renders and an extremely low-resolution blurrycam pic. These leaks along with information from other sources have revealed quite a fair bit about the two handsets. The smaller Pixel, which is being manufactured by HTC, will feature front-firing speakers, a 5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, and not feature a bezel-less design.

As for the Pixel XL 2 which LG is manufacturing, the handset will sport a 6-inch AMOLED panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio and minimal bezels surrounding it. Both handsets will feature a single 12MP shooter at their rear, with a fingerprint sensor located right below it. Sadly, they will also lack a 3.5mm headphone jack, with the USB-C port being used for audio output duties.

With more than a month still left for October 5th to arrive, there’s still plenty of time for more Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 leaks to make their way to the internet. We should also see Google send out invites for the event sometime in September. Apart from the second generation Pixels, Google is also expected to announce a cheaper and smaller Google Home, a Google Assistant powered headphones, and a new Pixel branded Chromebook.
