Google is rolling out an important update to its first-party Podcasts app.

Android Police is reporting that Google is currently beta testing version 8.91 of its official Podcasts app, and that the software now includes support for Google’s in-car system, Android Auto. The Podcasts app launched last year, so the wait for this has been a long one, especially considering this is a first-party app and Android Auto is another first-party option from Google.

Based on the images published in the original report, the interface is what you’d expect from an Android Auto app. You’ll find specific sections that will show you new episodes, in-progress episodes, downloads, and, obviously, all of your saved podcasts. Once you start up a podcast you’ll find the standard playback controls.

As mentioned above, the software is currently in beta, but it sounds like it will start rolling out as a public update at some point in the near future.

Do you use Android Auto all that often?
