Even though Google+ head, Vic Gundotra, has quit the company, the service is far from dead as evident from today’s update. Today, Google announced nine major new features for Google+ as well as for the Android app.
Most of these changes are related to how the app and service in itself, handles your photos and videos. The highlight of the update is Google+ Stories that combines your photos, videos and the places you have visited into a beautiful travelogue. This feature will be available on the web as well as on the Android app.
If you are a big fan of the animated GIFs and photobooth-style images that Google+ automatically creates, you will be glad to know that they can now be created on demand as well.
Other changes are mostly related to the app and include a new navigation menu that makes it easier to switch between your circles and communities, support for extremely large photo libraries, easier sharing of your content and the bottom drawer automatically sliding away to show more content while scrolling. The app will now also show your profile views to give your online ego a boost.
Google is rolling out the update gradually so it will not show up instantly on your Android device. The APK is also not yet available on the Internet, but be assured that as soon as it is, we will update this post with a link.
Most of these features will also be coming to the iOS app with an update down the line.
Update: You can download the APK from here.
