Why trust Greenbot
Google keeps experimenting with search results in Google Search for Android in a bid to deliver a better user experience. As a part of its latest experiment, the company has made it possible to directly install apps on your Android device from the search results.
Up until now, searching for an app through the Google Search bar in Android brought up a dedicated card for that app in search results, tapping on which redirected one to the Play Store.
However, now, the card of that app comes with an Install button, tapping on which automatically brings up the permissions popup manager that one needs to accept before the installation begins. For devices and apps that support Marshmallow, users will only see a Play Store logo on their screen before the installation starts.
At the moment, this feature is only available to selected Google Search users on Android, presumably who are on the beta channel. Like with all other experimental features from Google, if this one passes its internal testing, expect it to be rolled out to all Android devices over the coming few weeks (or months).
