It has been two years since the Google Pixel C tablet went up for sale, and now it is finally time to say goodbye.
Google might have initially had some different plans for the Pixel C tablet, but when it arrived on the scene it was billed as an Android device through-and-through. The hardware was praised at the time, but, as one might expect, it was flogged for not boasting a very noteworthy Android experience on the bigger display. What’s more, both the 32GB and 64GB variants of the Pixel C tablet weren’t cheap, which made the software frustrations stand out even more.
Google officially pulled the 32GB Pixel C tablet some time ago, but it has kept the 64GB in the store from day one. And while the tablet has seen some discounts over the years, it has traditionally been sold for the $599 price tag, even right up until the very end. Apparently it wasn’t flying off the shelves at any meaningful rate for Google, so it has decided now is as good a time as any to pull the plug.
As noted by Android Police today, the original listing page for the Pixel C now simply navigates directly to the Pixelbook option, so Google’s getting right to the point.
As it stands right now, Google is selling the Chromebook family of devices, as well as the Pixelbook from its own stable. There’s no word right now if Google plans on replacing the Pixel C tablet with a successor, but it will be interesting to wait and see if one emerges down the pipe.
Did you ever pick up a Pixel C?
