Google has confirmed to 9to5Google that the Pixel pre-order demand has “exceeded” the company’s expectations. While Google did ship out Pixel units to customers who pre-ordered the handsets, many customers are still waiting for their credit card to be even charged.

Customers who had an estimated shipping date of early this week have seen their order status change to ‘Pre-ordered’ or ‘Pending’. Due to the delay, Pixel pre-orders for quite a few customers will now be delivered in November. Google representatives, however, are telling customers who pre-ordered the Pixel to ignore the order status page and be rest assured that the handset would be delivered to them within the estimated time frame.

Nonetheless, the company has also acknowledged the heavy demand for the Pixel has exceeded its expectations.

We’re thrilled to see the excitement for our new Pixel phones, and frankly pre-order demand has exceeded our expectations. We’re working to restock our inventory as soon as possible.

Despite its high price and the initial negativity surrounding the handset among the tech enthusiasts, the Pixel and Pixel XL seem to be on track for Google to do particularly well. The handsets have received highly positive reviews, with reviewers (including us!) being impressed by its camera performance and software experience.

Have you received your Google Pixel? Or has your pre-order been delayed as well?
